Ready to let go of limitation and live joyfully?

It was embarrassing…

I tripped.
It was awkward and, truthfully- it kinda hurt.

No, I didn’t face plant in front of the room of 65+ people. It was a trip/ stumble combo that allowed me to regain my balance and – importantly – not drop the massive toffee chip cookie in my hand.

I’m extending my Training and Facilitation skills out into a new business. It is scary and exciting.

I went to this networking event and had to wrangle up my courage to connect.

You may be thinking that an event like that would be easy for me… and, I’ll tell you I was feeling pretty vulnerable and out of my league. So- when I saw the silver platter of cookies I KNEW that would be a great place to start.

Cookie in hand I turned to quickly observe the room and assess who I would like to talk to. I stepped toward the group – and tripped down a stair that hadn’t been there 8 seconds earlier and must have been secretly installed while I was on the sugar quest.

I recovered and scanned the room for a friendly face to laugh it off with. Yes, to laugh it off with. I didn’t want to hide… complete amusement was the choice.

I approached the man and woman at the bar who stopped their conversation to stare at my non graceful approach. I extended my hand and, “I’m Maureen, the one here who’s tripping.” And then laughed some more as I realized what THAT could mean and quickly assured them both that I wasn’t actually “tripping”.

Here’s what I know for sure:
• Amusement is a choice that can make experiences MUCH easier
• Things may be a tiny bit awkward… and don’t let that stop you
• The ability to laugh at ourselves is a huge gift of ease. YOU are pretty funny!

I would love to hear… have you had situations like this? Embarrassing moments? Stepping up and into your courageous self?

I committed to creating amazing things and being an irresistible invitation to limitless living. I choose to not let things get in my way. Especially myself.

One Response to It was embarrassing…

  1. Talking about embarrassing moments?
It was my second date with a great guy. It was a nice summer evening and we were sitting in a nice outdoor area of a cafe, enjoying a relaxing and fun conversation. Then I needed to P… So I excused myself and as I was heading to what seems to be an open door while still talking to the guy, I turned my head and bumped into a glass wall of the cafe. It made such a loud noise that everyone that were sitting inside stopped what they were doing, turned and looked what shook the place. Then I also understood the strange look on that guys’ face while I was heading to the restroom(the look of “what are you doing?!”) …
I laughed so hard. One of the moments in life I’ll never forget. The good thing was that we still saw each other after that incident..
